Pierre Jaurant Pinot Gris 2019 (12.5%) £5.99 Aldi  Light, fruity and sleek as a lemony icicle. Super with shellfish or mild spicy recipes.

Wednesday 27th May 2020:

Camino de Seda 2019 (15%) Laithwaites from £8.99 in a mixed case. If you can bag the £8.99 price, this is definitely worth buying. Heroic herbal aromas and high impact dollops of sweet bold fruit held in place by firm tannin. Memorable and mighty wine.

Tuesday 26th May 2020:

Tapada de Villar Vinho Verde 2019 (10%) M&S £7. Apple mint and passionfruit explode in a spritzy stylish uplifting white with satisfying bite. Perfect summery vino to chill down with.

Monday 25th May 2020:

Paso-Primero Rosé Somontano 2019 (14.5%) £8.90 Tanners. Richly colourful, this rocking rosé tastes like a raspberry that’s been filled with watermelon juice. Brilliant value from off the beaten track in Somontano, northeastern Spain.

Friday 22nd May 2020:

Bagordi Rioja Blanco DOCa 2019 (13%) £9.20 Tanners. Apple attack! This is so pristine, fresh and invigorating that I could happily drink it all summer long. Full of flavour with delightful purity.

Thursday 21st May 2020:

Taste the Difference Gaillac Rouge 2018 (12.5%) £7* Sainsbury’s. Silky sleek red with a tickle of aromatic spice. Light enough to chill and a brilliant red to keep cool in the sunshine. (*on offer until 26th May).

Fizzy & Fresh Italian Sparkling £6 (11%) M&S*. Light fizzy frothy fun. This great value sparkler is a missile of marvellousness! *In-store only currently

Tuesday 19th May 2020:

LB7 Lisboa Red 2017 (13.5%) £7.99 mix six Majestic. Black cherries and blackcurrants romping in a summery festival of flavour. Great value red that’s great fun to drink.

Monday 18th May 2020:

Les Dauphins, Côtes du Rhône Blanc, Cuvée Speciale 2018 (13%) £8 Tesco. Summer splendour! Richly textured with a cascade of exotic fruit this is fantastic white for the first barbecue of the year.

Friday 15th May 2020:

Irresistible Gavi Broglia 2018 (13.5%) £8.50 Co-op. Gorgeous gorse blossom aroma, fruity and pristine, this peach of a wine is a breaking wave of sheer refreshment. Serve cool on a hot day and take your tastebuds on holiday.

Thursday 14th May 2020:

Taste the Difference Beaujolais Villages Coteaux Granitiques 2018 (13%) £8 Sainsbury’s. Looking for a red to serve cool? Pick this brilliantly made Gamay crafted from old vines. With just the right grip for a simple plate of sausages or salami, this is the perfect red with a license to chill.

Wednesday 13th May 2020:

Finest Saint Mont 2017 (13.5%) £6.50 Tesco. A pink grapefruit lazerbeam of a wine. Sharp, thrilling and punchy, this bright refresher is great value from the brilliant Plaimont Producteurs Co-Operative. Petit Courbu, Arrufiac and Gros Manseng may not be grape varieties that trip off the tongue – but this wine does just that. Lovely for an aperitif or pair with fish.

Tuesday 12th May 2020:

Dehesa de Lantana Crianza Rioja 2016 (14%) from £7.99 Majestic. Benchmark Rioja Crianza, plump as a blueberry inhaling a bicycle pump with a twist of splendid savoury depth from ageing in barrel, a great wine from a decent vintage. wonderful with lamb.

Monday 11th May 2020:

Cuvée Royale Brut Crémant de Limoux (12.5%) £8.99, Waitrose: With the offer price of £8.99 down from the usual £11.99 (until 9th June), splash this sparkler into your week and revel in its uplifting effervescence.

Friday 8th May 2020:

The Best Fleurie 2019 (13%) £8.50 on offer, Morrisons. Sharply defined as a cherry in 4K, this winning red is delightful served chilled with lockdown burgers.

Thursday 7th May 2020:

Irresistible Leyda Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2018 (13%) £7 Co-op. This full throttle bottle is an eruption of lime zest. A stunning solo sip or superb with goat’s cheese salad.

Wednesday 6th May 2020:

This Is… Rich & Smooth Spanish Red 2019 (12%) £5 Marks and SpencerIn store and keep an eye out for it online. Drinkably delish for a fiver, this is a juicy red gem for the price. Perfect with pies.

Tuesday 5th May 2020:

Wairau Cove Pinot Grigio 2019 (12.5%) £7 Tesco. Dazzling, tropical, fruity and pristine, this white is just too easy to drink! Fab with fish and chips.

Monday 4th May 2020:

Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Portuguese Lisboa Red 2017 (13.5%) £7. Rich and brimming with dark fruit, this deep spicy Portuguese blend is a superstar for stews.

Friday 1st May 2020:

Tesco Finest Argentinian Malbec Rosé 2019 (13%) £7*. With a clever 10% twist of Torrontes, this rosé manages to exude a fruity freshness that sings in the glass. Refreshing and full of flavour, it’s the perfect wine to unwind with or to pair with light salads and simple dishes. On offer from £8 until 18th May.

30th April 2020:

Les Rafelières Sauvignon Blanc 2019 (12%) £9.96 Private Cellar. One of the great gems of the wine world, year in year out this zesty gem soars like Sancerre minus the weighty price tag. A  bit of lockdown luxury to lift your spirits.

29th April 2020:

Morrisons Fino Sherry (15%) £4.85. A full 75cl for this price is incredible value. Serve this salty bright fresh sherry ice cold with any savoury nibbles to unleash it’s tangy tremendousness. And try pouring one third Fino to two thirds lemonade over ice with a slice for one of my favourite easy cocktails – the Rebujito! Guaranteed to set your mood buzzing.

28th April 2020:

The Wrangler Californian Zinfandel 2017 (15%) £6.99, Aldi. Sells like hot cakes online, this huge spicy red is a romp of giant flavours. Well worth tracking down in stores and fab with smokey recipes.

27th April 2020:

M&S Grillo 2018 (13%) £7. A luminous lemon! Radiating rich citrus refreshment, this Italian ace is all you need for summer sipping and matches magnificently with ocean bounty.

April 24th 2020:

Aldi Specially Selected Pays D’Hérault Rosé 2019 (12%) £6.49. Find a ray of sunshine to sip this in – pretty close to Provence quality without the price tag. Gorgeous wine to unwind with.

April 23rd 2020:

Waitrose & Partners Cava Brut (11.5%) £6.99. Fine fizz for under a tenner? Yes please – this is crunchy as a frosted apple and dazzlingly delish. Best bet for online drinks with friends and family. Party time!

April 22nd 2020:

Sainsbury’s Porta Seis Lisboa Red 2018 (13.5%) £7.50 An unbeatable ambassador for fruity juicy Portuguese red blends. Bang on with sausages

April 21st 2020:

Peter Mertes Ära Grüner Veltliner 2018 (12%) £8 Tesco. Proper zingy white with gorgeous peachy purity. Upbeat Austrian excellence that’s fab with a fishfinger sandwich.

April 20th 2020:

Lidl Saint-Chinian Les Moulines Réserve 2018 (13.5%) £7.99look for £5.99 on offer. Dynamic French red with spicy black fruit depth and top notch flavour. 60% Syrah, 40% Grenache, spot on for a store cupboard casserole.
