How Cabernet Sauvignon earned its noble reputation—

I once described Cabernet Sauvignon as being the rhinoceros of grape varieties – thick-skinned and powerful.

That was a few years back on The Richard & Judy Show, when I fronted their Wine Club.

It’s certainly an enduring grape variety with commanding iconic status the world over. But is it really all that special?
